What Is Six Sigma?
Six Sigma is a process improvement methodology. It provides tools that a company can use to optimize their operations and increase efficiency. What sets Six Sigma apart from other similar programs is its use of statistical analysis. One of the foundational beliefs of Six Sigma is that all of a company’s processes can be measured for efficiency and effectiveness. Using statistics, Six Sigma Green Belts and Black Belts are able to determine which processes are inefficient and holding a company back.
Once an inefficient or wasteful process has been identified, the problem can be solved using the DMAIC approach. This is a process in Six Sigma that guides problem solving and helps companies sustain the improvements they make to their operations.
